Celebrating Columbus Day

After students learned about the adventures of Columbus, they were given various materials and had to try to build a boat that would (a) look like a boat and (b) successfully float upright in the water.  Materials included corks, pipe insulation, toothpicks, tape, paper, fabric and plastic egg crates.  Students were able to test their boats and adjust as needed until it floated correctly.
