Digraphs /ch/ & /wh/

This week we learned about the /ch/ and /wh/ digraphs and their accompanying sounds.

For /ch/, we watched the Sesame Street video below about Charlie's restaurant:


And then we made a menu to go along with it! Students came up with the OUTRAGEOUS prices, by the way.  These menus feature the slightly lower prices I was able to talk them into!


We also made chains with /ch/ words.


For /wh/, we made this cute little whale with /wh/ words in water droplets!


I greatly dislike teaching the /wh/ sound because it's so hard to hear.  Students begin to put h's in words that don't need them, like 'whind' or 'whater.' Wompwomp. It's a tough one! If you're a teacher reading this, please share...How do you teach /wh/ in your classroom?
