Play-Doh and Five Senses with Mr. Potato Head!

We have introduced our 11th and final station for now! We'll change up what we do at each and some will rotate in and out of use as we add new stations later in the year. Of course, we saved the best for last ;)

Station #11: Play-Doh

Students get to make letters of the alphabet out of play-doh. They have the option of pressing their fingers into the dough or using snake-like rolls to create the letters. AYIH

And as a writing activity/wrap-up for our five senses unit, students made Mr. Potato Heads! We wrote what sense we use each body part for as we added. Here are the students working:

And the finished products:

Mrs. Axelrod and I were commenting how much we love kindergarten work -- you can give the children all the same pieces and the same instructions, but the finished product still looks different for everyone! Look at all the character in these potato heads! I just love how they turned out.

And they took the place of our equally awesome Back-To-School Night self-portraits:

I have some artistic friends this year!

Anyway, I'll leave you with this adorable picture of friendship on the playground.

Friends!

As always, enjoy the rest of your day. Owl be teaching you more tomorrow!

  1. I have a question about stations. How long do the students spend at each station, and how many stations do they visit each day? Just curious :)

  2. Right now, students go to one station a day for 15 minutes. We will transition to two stations a day (or one station and one reading group meeting in place of a station) for twenty minutes each when everyone has the hang of it and reading groups are established. :-)
