Counting & Number Sense

In math, we've been counting up to ten objects daily.  The kids are using a ten frame to help with one-to-one.  We're working on numeral recognition and forming our numbers 0-10, too.


We did a count & glue cheerios assessment to see who needed more help with counting:

Almost all of the students need help on estimation.  When given 30 counters, some students estimated "600," "infinity," or "1,000."  We read the book Great Estimations and introduced the concept of an estimation jar.  This is something we'll do regularly throughout the year!

We start talking about positional words next week.
